The story behind Stonk.

A Statement from our Founder

Yes, a human wrote this.

Stonk was started by someone just like you — someone passionate about finance but constantly intimidated by the language barrier of needlessly complicated jargon. It's basic human psychology: we quit, withdraw, and disengage when something feels impossibly daunting.

I'll hearken back to the exact moment that led me to create Stonk: Reading that JPMorgan had launched a “basket of credit default swaps to hedge against the excessive debt of the AI industry.” Already dissuaded by the title, I picked my way through the article having Googled every other word and still feeling like an outsider. Sound familiar?

Stonk exists to answer a simple question: what if you didn't have to do that anymore? What if financial news was just... readable? The financial elite have spent decades making financial knowledge feel inaccessible — and that's not an accident, it's intentional.

Whether you're a college student like me, a taxi driver wondering why groceries cost so much, or a seasoned finance professional sick of the industry's bulls*it, Stonk is for you.

— Ted, Founder

How Stonk Works

1

Cutting through the bull.

Stonk harnesses the power of AI to transform the latest and most influential financial news into something you actually understand — and most importantly, enjoy.

2

Humans stay in the loop.

Every article gets a real set of human eyes before it reaches you. No unchecked AI, no surprises.

3

You become the smartest person in the room.

Before you know it, finance just clicks. No more feeling blindfolded, misled, or held back by jargon designed to exclude you.

What's in a name?

As a proud member of Gen Z, many of us can relate to the viral “Stonks” meme of the 2010s. This depiction of finance as lifeless, overcomplicated number crunching stuck in our heads as more than a meme: an uncomfortably accurate depiction of a lifestyle — a very undesirable one at that.

I chose the name Stonk to create an antithesis to that dull image of finance that lingers in our heads and decomplicate finance for everyone. That's Stonk.
